About the show

Verlando Small: Reimagined is a headline concert series celebrating Jamaica's world-class instrumental talent. Conceived and led by acclaimed saxophonist Verlando Small, the series positions instrumentalists and professional musicians as headline artists in their own right — not supporting acts behind vocalists, but creative forces commanding the main stage.

The inaugural volume took place over Mother's Day weekend 2026 at the Philip Sherlock Centre for the Creative Arts, UWI Mona Campus.

The subtitle for Volume I — "Musicians: Front & Centre" — captures the central philosophy of the series: that the musicians who shape the heartbeat of Jamaican culture deserve to stand fully in the spotlight. This is a recalibration of the stage, giving instrumental performers the headline recognition that has too often been reserved for vocalists alone.

Yes. Volume II is in development. Details around date, venue, and programming will be announced in due course. To be among the first to know, sign up for notifications on our contact page.

Verlando Small is a Jamaican saxophonist and bandleader widely regarded as one of the Caribbean's finest instrumentalists. He was the first non-vocalist to win Jamaica's Digicel Rising Stars competition (2013), and has since collaborated with artists including Buju Banton and Jermaine Edwards, performing across genres from jazz and reggae to gospel and contemporary soul.
